Sunny Sunday in Il-Qolla
To all nature lovers out there, here is a perfect Sunday (any day) hike for you. Even after 9 long years living on this island I have never heard and never been to Il-Qolla before. In fact, I found this place by mistake.

Park your car next to Chadwick Lakes, that’s where my Sunday wander started, and just follow the road towards Rabat. After a while you will see Il-Qolla, a hill near by with some massive stones on to of it. Climb all the way up as the views are just amazing.
It was March when I went on this hiking adventure and as you can see from the photos Malta was just blooming. Spring is the best time to visit the islands if you would like to wander around and enjoy the countryside. From January to March the weather is bit unstable, but it’s the time when Malta is the greenest. The temperature is pleasant, not too hot but not too cold either, perfect for a nice hike.
There is a path leading you all the way to il-Qolla hill. Hiking or trekking shoes are recommended especially if you want to get to the very top. As I didn’t know what I was going to find I didn’t think about it, but it is actually a perfect hiding spot if you just wanna grab a blanket and enjoy some quiet time with your partner. A little romantic picnic. 🙂
Yaaay I made it! Hello from the very top of the il-Qolla hill! Just look at the views around, isn’t the Maltese countryside just stunning?
Here is a GoogleMap with the exact location as it might be a bit tricky to find it if you are not very familiar with the area. I hope you enjoyed what you just saw and go and see it for yourself in the near future. Spring time recommended. 🙂
